The New Driving Test 2018 Changes
DVSA Driving Test 2018 Changes
Earlier this year the DVSA announced some changes to the driving test, have a look at our earlier blog here to find out what changed.
In summary they where
- Independent driving part of the test will increase to 20 minutes
- Following directions from a sat nav
- Reversing manoeuvres will be changed
- Answering a vehicle safety question while you’re driving
The Driving Academy Instructor’s Verdict
Well on Monday the new test came into play, we’ve had a few days to adjust, so we’ve been asking our instructors what they think. The general consensus seems to be the same with the sat nav being a typical sat nav giving a few ‘iffy’ directions with the examiner confirming the directions on some occasions.
The examiner had to clarify a direction from the sat nav and the pupil got the parallel park exercise and passed with only 2 minors
Overall the new driving test has received mixed reviews and still has some driving examiners unhappy with the pull up on the right manoeuvre – but we still think it is slightly easier to pass – do you have any feedback from a pupil point of view? Let us know!
