Quick Q&A With Kev
Why did you become a driving instructor?
I’ve always loved driving and also loved the idea of being able to be flexible around the needs of my family (I have a little boy who is nearly 3) so it gave the best of both worlds. As I previously delivered social care training courses, it seemed a perfect match for me.
What’s the best part of your job?
The elation when a pupil passes their driving test knowing it opens up a whole new world, be it for work, family or just pleasure.
What’s the worst part of your job?
Dealing with Scott 😊 (Honestly, the drive home after a test fail, especially if it’s just one blip)
Favourite lesson to teach
I love it all, but especially being able to find how people drive when they’ve had a previous instructor.
Favourite area for teaching in
I can often be found hidden down side streets in New Brighton or Birkenhead either on a controls lesson or finding somewhere for the much loved parallel park!
What did you do before you became an instructor?
Support Worker with adults with challenging behaviour and mental health needs, I think it’s this that keeps me calm in the car on lessons.
Why did you choose a Fiesta to teach in?
It’s spacious, easy to handle and isn’t overly complicated. It does what it needs to.
How old where you when you passed your driving test?
35 (2nd attempt) 😮
If you could tell yourself anything when you where learning to drive, what would it be?
Take your time, it’s not a race!
When your not in the car where can we find you?
In the kitchen or in front of the TV with the little one (think: Peppa Pig, Thomas the Tank Engine and Paw Patrol)
Too many to mention – a nicely cooked steak goes down a treat though.
Rugby League (Salford – my original home town), Football (Stockport County – long story) and love watching the F1!
Claim to fame?
Former national radio quiz champion (2014) and schools karting winner (1992)!
I’m an Indie kid so it’s James, Oasis, Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics and the like
