Josh's Quick Q&A
Why did you train to become a driving instructor?
I’ve always loved driving—but more than that, I enjoy helping people overcome nerves and gain confidence behind the wheel. Plus, teaching people a life skill that gives them freedom and independence felt like a rewarding way to spend my days. And let’s be honest—where else can you meet new people, tell bad jokes, and teach clutch control all at the same time?
Why did you pick your driving instructor car?
I went with a Ford Fiesta because it’s easy to handle and not intimidating for new drivers.
How old were you when you passed your driving test?
I was 25 when I passed my driving test and I passed first time.
What was your first car and why did you pick it?
I was so excited when I was doing my driving lessons that I actually went out and bought a car before I passed! It was a bright green Ford Fiesta…don’t ask why! 🤣
If you could go back and give yourself any advice when you were learning to drive, what would it be?
First of all, don’t go out and buy a green Ford Fiesta! My advice would be to really enjoy the experience, there’s a lot to learn and not to get too stressed out. Be patient with yourself, you will pass!
Favourite holiday?
My favourite holiday has to be Iceland. It was my first winter holiday but I soon warmed up when I was swimming around in the Blue Lagoon.
Favourite food?
Chicken and a can of coke…
Favourite teaching area?
I like teaching around North Liverpool as I know the area and the roads very well.
What is your dream car?
My dream car is a BMW M5.
What music is in your glovebox?
Does anyone even keep music in the glovebox anymore?! 🤣 I listen to Capital Dance or Radio X when I’m in the car. But if it’s been a long day, it’s got to be a bit of Smooth FM.
Describe your style of teaching in 3 words?
Calm, clear and occasionally hilarious.
