How many driving lessons will I need?2018-04-12T10:13:58+01:00

On average the DSA recommends around 45 hours with a qualified driving instructor, as well as private practice at home. Everybody is different with some people passing in less than 10 hours and others taking more than the average. We teach you to the highest standards whilst also ensuring your a confident driver. Your driving instructor will be able to give you a rough estimate based on your learning style after the first 2 lessons.

You are your own boss and you work when you want, where you want. You can work as little or as much as you like and you meet a whole range of people whilst doing it. Some people you’ll love and some people you’ll hate, but it’s a varied job and 9/10 times you will love it.

The first thing you need is to apply to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to become an ADI (approved driving instructor). You’ll need to give current details about your driving licence including any offences or pending convictions. You also need a criminal records disclosure number. Apply to become an ADI on GOV.UK.

There are 3 parts to the training and the more effort you put in the quicker you qualify. This does not mean it can be rushed. Realistically 4-6 months will get you ready to start teaching to a high standard if you try hard. You must complete training within 2 years or you have to start all over again.

How much will I earn as a driving instructor?2018-04-12T10:22:41+01:00

If you’re doing it for the love of money, there are easier ways to make money.

Many companies will advertise that you can earn up to £40,000 per annum. What they don’t mention is that you have associated car fee’s, franchise costs and working self employed you lose your sick and holiday pay which you should try and cover.

Realistically, based on a 35 hour week you could earn £47,320 based on £26 per hour. Remove your costs and the figure will be more £30,000 per annum.
